I'm a freshman at WashU's Sam Fox art school and I'm pretty miserable. I don't like the art program and don't think it'll sufficiently prepare me for a career, and I'm not doing great socially, I don't like St. Louis, and I just don't fit in in this "preppy" environment. Among other reasons.
I was previously accepted to CFA at Carnegie Mellon but turned it down primarily for financial reasons. At CMU I would have had to pay $40k a year vs under $10k at WashU (art scholarship), so I told myself to choose the more financially practical option even though I liked CMU better when I visited and actually felt like I fit in. (Also, the CFA facilities/buildings are gorgeous and I know the art program is just overall higher tier.)
Does being previously accepted affect my chances at all? I don't have much new art so I'll probably be submitting mostly the same things. As for my stats, they're not great but I guess they got me in the first time: 3.65 unweighted/3.8 weighted high school GPA, 35 ACT, a few extracurriculars, and a decent art portfolio. And I think I'm mostly getting Bs this semester at WashU. Will I get in again? I'm just nervous because the CMU transfer acceptance rate is much lower than its usual acceptance rate (10% vs 25%).
Help would be appreciated. Thanks!
