Hello everyone,
I recently applied for Transfer at a couple of UCs and got rejected by every single one. I also applied to both Pitzer and NYU, but I highly doubt I will get into either of them due to their being highly selective for transfers.
So, below are my stats and I really would appreciate some advice on how to better bolster my application and perhaps some better places to apply for Spring transfer. Obviously I'm doing this because while the philosophy staff at CPP is very good, I feel as if other schools will provide me with better guidance and instruction that will move me towards my goals.
GPA: 3.83 (It will hopefully go up a little bit after this quarter)
SAT Scores: Not Applicable
Writing Ability: Generally I'm a fairly good writer, so I shouldn't have too many problems on college essays.
Letters of Rec: I have two philosophy professors and an English professor who know me well enough to write some pretty good essays.
ECs: This is where I struggle quite a bit, I co-own a business so most of my time is trapped making sure I am able to help with its day-to-day operation. Besides that, I do private tutoring for several people. Also, in my upcoming quarter I am going to be doing Ethics Bowl.
This fall I plan to apply for spring transfer at: Pitzer (again), NYU (again), University of Pittsburgh, University of Texas at Austin
I think I could certainly improve my ECs to get into a couple of places, but some advice on what to do to so my interest in philosophy (the philosophy club at my school is a little lacking) and more particularly in the philosophy of education would be helpful. Also, as I said above, maybe some advice on just where I should apply so I don't go in quite so blind this time around would be extremely helpful!
