Placed onto academic probation

I was a former UT austin student who ended up doing poorly my first 2 years (My cumulative GPA ended up being a 1.69 which ended me in academic probation. My parents decided that I had to go to a communty college. I'm now attending a local community college and I was wondering if there's any advice on how I should prepare for transfer to a different 4-year university. I understand that my grade marks have to be exceptional i.e 4.0, however since my grades will carry with me from UT I was looking at that as a problematic concern. I want to transfer to the University of Houston-main campus and apply to their engineering program, however they require a 3.0 gpa for all course work. I've taken most of my classes like Calculus and Engineering Physics I and ended up with a C, however the classes the community college has to offer can't really benefit me since I've completed most of my core prereqs. The only core classes that I need to take are English, Government, and Engineering/University Physics 2. So I'm in a conflict on how long I should attend a community college. Should it be a 1,2,3, or (4 semester and obtain an associate degree). I'm really in a bad situation and I need help. Thanks
