Hello, everyone!
I'm a soon-to-be-graduating student studying at a community college in New York and will be receiving an A.A. in Liberal Arts and General Studies by the beginning of February of next year. My interests lie in political science (with an emphasis on international affairs) and homeland security (with an emphasis on intelligence/analytical work), and a secondary major in Chinese Studies. In New York, there are two universities which I'm looking at, Binghamton and Albany, with the former being recognized as a "public ivy" by a number of the state's residents, and the latter as a great school for public affairs and governance.
However, I like the idea of having multiple universities as fall-backs, or even as potential first choices. I haven't done much research out-of-state (except for UCT in South Africa because of its low cost) since in-state tuition is a godsend and would only cost me ~$40,000 to finish the rest of my education with on-campus housing.
If it helps, I have a GPA of 3.9 which I'll hopefully maintain for the next semester and wintersession, and a pretty broad-based educational experience. I'm unsure of letters of recommendation since I didn't network too often with any of my professors. What could you recommend for a transfer student interested in the aforementioned subjects, who's looking to spend ~$25,000/year (not including federal/state financial aid) for tuition and room and board?
