Hello, I'm currently enrolled in one CCC (Chaffey College) and I'm completing 16 semester units here in my first semester (extremely likely 4.0 GPA). I want to major in Computer Science in a UC. The universities that I would love to attend are UCB (EECS), UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCI in that order. However, I need help regarding a few choices that I will need to make in the upcoming months.
Like I said before, I currently have 16 semester units IP (in progress) that are going to meet IGETC requirements and for some prerequisites for a few higher-level classes I need to take. My plan is to take the entire Chaffey physics series, the math series, the English series, and a few classes to meet the rest of IGETC and to complete the honors program offered at Chaffey. In addition, I was planning to take Computer Science classes at Pasadena City College as their program seems much better. My concern is even Pasadena's Computer Science classes don't articulate with Berkeley's lower-division Computer Science classes.
I was wondering if it would be possible to take Computer Science classes (maybe summer classes) at UCR, UCI, or UCLA to meet those specific requirements. And if it were possible, would it give me an upper-edge on competition or will it actually disadvantage me? What is the process behind applying to summer classes at a UC (do I need to apply?)? Aside from completing the honors program (which involves 52 hours of community service) at Chaffey College, should I involve myself in additional clubs? For clarification, the only reason I ask that is because I don't want to mess up my grades by trying to involving myself in unnecessary clubs. And finally, will having 100 semester credits completed within 2 years look terrible or great for the UC schools?
To summarize, I wish to attend either UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, or UCI for a Computer Science degree. I'm currently enrolled in my CCC's (Chaffey College) honor program, will complete 100 total semester credits within 2 years at Chaffey College and Pasadena City College, will complete IGETC, and will meet every 'required' prerequisite from every school I listed. I desire input from anyone with knowledge regarding the admission process at any of those schools and suggestions from the same. Thank you for your time!
