I just finished my first semester of college and my family want me to transfer to Stony Brook University due to convenience. But I did terribly this semester. My GPA ended up being a 1.9. It was a very tough adjustment to the environment around me, and then depression and anxiety hit me very hard. I don't know how to tell my parents or what to do. I have scheduled academic probation meetings with the current dean and am worried about my scholarship and financial aid being taken away.
I think I want to stay until fall 2017 to boost up my GPA before attempting to transfer to Baruch or Hunter or SBU. But I already have a difficult time talking to my parents, let alone tell them about my depression/anxiety problems that resulted in such a bad GPA outcome. I need someone to talk to and I have no idea what to do.. Also will the schools understand my personal problems?? will they allow assistance or kick me out??
