So I am a non traditional student. Here's my story:
I struggled with mental illness and drug addiction in HS and a few years after I graduated. I graduated HS with a 2.8 GPA. Then I messed around at a CC, completed about 36 credits with a 3.25 cumulative GPA and a lot of Ws.
I worked full time for several years after graduating HS. Last year I transferred to the 4 year university I currently attend. I have a 3.9 GPA after two semesters and I plan to take a summer session that might bump me up to 4.0. I have pretty good ECs relating to my major (political science) and I'm an African-American woman with a household income of <25k so an URM.
I want to transfer again because the coursework here is not very rigorous, the students aren't engaged and I do not feel like I will be prepared for a top grad school if I finish here.
I'm looking at UMN Twin cities, UW Madison (I'm from Minnesota) and -my reaches- USC and Columbia School of General Studies. what are my chances? What other schools should I be looking at that are transfer friendly and have strong poli sci programs? Generous aid is a plus because I am paying for school myself... And I definitely plan to go to grad school. Thank you!!
