I started out as a pre-med student at a small university right out of high school. About halfway through my first semester I realized I wanted to pursue nursing at my local community college instead. I stopped going to classes then since my ignorant self thought that those grades wouldn't matter. I didn't realize I had to send in all my transcripts if I ever wanted to go to another university. I didn't want anyone to know of my grades either. It was extremely stupid and I'm not here looking for criticism on that. I know I messed up big time. Now I am still at community college pursuing computer science, which I'm absolutely passionate about. My GPA is around 3.5 but I expect this to be even higher when I graduate. I live in Illinois and the only schools I would bother going to would be U of I or IIT and I don't think they would overlook the awful transcript at my first school. I think I failed three out of four classes. I am a good student and I know I can succeed. Do I have a chance of getting into any decent schools around the midwest? Distance isn't really a factor as I am sort of wanting to move away.
