Should I show course rigor through high level classes, or through more credits?

I'm currently a freshman taking 16 credits this semester, or 5 classes, and I'm doing well (probably will round out the semester with a 3.8 or 3.9). My classes are kind of rigorous, almost all 200 level or above. Next semester, I want to take some upper level econ classes for my major, Econometrics and Intermediate Macro with Calculus, which are considered 300 and 400 levels respectively, but I don't know if I should take a total of 16 credits again, or dial it back to 4 classes and 13 credits, to try and make up for the increased rigor. How beneficial would it be to take 16 credits again rather than just 13?
